A country fire service volunteer, who wishes to remain anonymous, explains his decision to not attend a recent bushfire.

One of the two firefighters who refused to attend a fire as a form of protest has explained his reasoning. The man, who asked to remain anonymous, was one of two CFS volunteers who didn't fight a fire near Ceduna last week because of rises in the Emergency Services Levy. He's told the ABC it's too much of a financial burden to take time off work to fight fires when he also pay the levy, which has risen 800 per cent at his property. He says he was concerned how his stance would be received by colleagues. Read more here
